Macomb Manufacturers at the 2013 North American International Auto Show
It was a proud year for Macomb manufacturers at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. The planning department was pleased to help County Executive Mark Hackel recognize some of our great companies that had products on display at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.
Several Macomb companies joined our department and executive Hackel on a tour of Macomb ingenuity on the floor at the Auto Show. Our home talent contributed a lot to this year’s show, with products on display ranging from engine parts to the displays themselves.
Additionally, the “Big Three” have made news with their return to profitability and investing more than $2 billion into Macomb County facilities to add thousands of new jobs. They’re also generating buzz for their quality and ingenuity. The coveted Car and Truck of the Year awards went to two products with heavy ties to Macomb County. The 2013 Car of the Year, the Cadillac ATS, was designed at the General Motors Technical Center here in Warren. Also making Macomb its home is the 2013 Truck of the Year, the Dodge Ram 1500, which is built in Warren.
Manufacturing and the auto industry are critical components of the Macomb economy. In Macomb County the automotive industry is made up of nearly 1,000 companies, employing over 41,000 individuals. The rebound of this industry is having a tremendous positive impact on our local economy. Join us in congratulating our hometown companies for their awards and accomplishments!
