Macomb County Showcased to Cleveland Site Selectors
A day trip to Cleveland provided a unique opportunity for department staff to showcase all that Macomb County has to offer to site consultants from several multinational corporations.
The bus departed the morning of June 15, carrying an elite group of members from all across Macomb County: Luke Bonner (Bonner Advisory Group), Holger Ekanger (Macomb Community College), Kevin LaComb (Fitzpatrick Manufacturing), Jim Pacyga (KUKA Systems), Justin Robinson (Detroit Regional Chamber), Rob Wilson (Michigan Economic Development Corporation), Jacqueline Young (DTE Energy), and Steve Cassin and Vicky Rad (Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development.) They arrived at 11:30 for a quick meet-and-greet with the Cleveland consultants, then had lunch at the Greenhouse Tavern, a restaurant famed for its delicious food and eco-friendly atmosphere. Afterward came a roundtable discussion of the aspects of Michigan and Macomb County that make them ideal business locations.
According to Vicky Rad, the trip’s goal was to allow Macomb County planners “to network and make connections with a new group of potential partners, and to put Macomb on their radar for future recommendations to their clients.” After spending the day with representatives from such companies as Ernst & Young, Duff & Phelps, PWC, The Hamman Consulting Group, Don Schjeldahl Group, and the Austin Company, that goal has been accomplished.
