Bass, Brews & BBQ Festival heads back to Lake St. Clair for summer family fun
The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Make Macomb Your Home, Detroit Sports Commission, Huron Clinton Metroparks and NASH FM to bring the Bass, Brews & BBQ Festival back to Macomb County this month at Lake St. Clair Metropark. The festival is a complement to the 2017 Advance Auto Parts Bassmaster Elite fishing tournament which takes place on Lake St. Clair Aug. 24-27.
At the tournament, you’ll find the best bass fishermen in the world battling for glory, trophies and cash. It features daily launches, weigh-ins and opportunities to be up close and personal with world-class fishermen. Anglers like Michigan-native Kevin VanDam are sure to be great crowd pleasers. VanDam, affectionately known as KVD, is the all-time money winner in professional bass fishing.
Lake St. Clair is a frequent stop for the Elite Series, as it boasts millions of smallmouth and largemouth bass that grow to an average of two pounds. According to avid bass anglers, the smallmouth bass fishing on Lake St. Clair is nothing short of spectacular because once the summer patterns have settled in, it’s not uncommon to catch 40-60 bass in a four-hour period.
The festival portion runs Aug. 25-27 and allows guests to enjoy the fishing tournament as well as:
- craft beer
- music and concerts
- tours aboard the Pride of Michigan, an 81-foot former U.S. Navy training vessel
- several interesting vendors displaying their offerings
- some of the best barbecue and food from our area’s top restaurants
- entertainment
- family fun and more!
The festival is open to the public, and there is no cost for admission. Festival hours are Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
There are openings for restaurants and vendors to serve and display their products and services, along with sponsorship opportunities. For more information, call Linda Colton at (586) 731-5400, x21.
