Making Movies in Macomb

Margarine Wars to make its worldwide debut in Michigan!

Filmed-in-Macomb “Margarine Wars” will host a red carpet premiere on Wednesday, March 21 at Emagine Theatre in Royal Oak.

Starring Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) and the very-familiar Robert Loggia, other key characters are played by Dee Wallace (the mother in ET) and fresh-faced Ron G. (a finalist in TV’s “Last Comic Standing) who plays the central character, Howard Schmear. Other roles are filled by Michael Spellman and Ellen Muth as well as many extras from the Richmond and Armada area.

The comedy, set in the summer of 1967, pokes fun at a time when laws were in place to place to prevent yellow margarine from passing the lips of unsuspecting Wisconsinites.  Locations throughout northern Macomb County served as the backdrop for the story including Coon Creek Orchard, the Rowley family dairy farm, Richmond’s The Aud, Armada’s Chaps Restaurant and others.

Tickets for the premiere are $20 and include admission to the show, popcorn, a beverage and access to an after-glow party featuring Made-in-Michigan products including Achatz Pies, Kars Nuts, Giovanni’s Appetizing Food Products and others.

Also included in the admission is a $5 contribution to the Macomb Food Program.  Doors open at 6 p.m., the film will roll at 7:30 p.m.  For ticket information, contact
