Skilled Trades Training Fund has Launched

The 2015-2016 Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) is administered by the Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board. As of Thursday, Oct. 1, applications are being accepted. Macomb County businesses can now contact the board to apply.

While Michigan’s economy continues to gain momentum, there is still a challenge for companies to find talent with the skills they need. Now in its third year, the STTF continues to focus on assisting companies in meeting their talent challenges.

The STTF is a competitive grant offered through the state of Michigan that provides funds to train new hires and existing employees. Up to $1,500 per employee is available to provide short-term training for employees either on the job or in a classroom setting. Employers who enroll new hires into a USDOL-approved apprenticeship can apply for up to $3,000 per employee.

Interested Macomb County businesses should contact Bob Apczynski at the Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board by emailing bob@macomb-stclairworks.org or by calling (586) 469-5022 to learn more about the STTF and how to apply.
