Macomb County awards $4.1 million in grants to more than 800 small businesses
Macomb County today announced that it has awarded $4.1 million in grants to more than 800 local small businesses. Funding for the grants came from the State of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation through the Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program. The program’s goal was to assist businesses that experienced significant financial hardship due to the COVID-19 emergency orders issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in November and December 2020.
"While the timeline to apply was short, we were pleased to partner with the state to help some of the businesses more adversely affected by the pandemic," said Vicky Rowinski, director of Macomb County Planning and Economic Development. "We continue to work with our small business community and providing these grants will ensure they are able to pay rent, utilities and even rehire employees as they ramp back up.”
Macomb County gave grant funding priority to brick and mortar businesses in the following industries: Restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, gyms, entertainment venues and recreational facilities.
